A monument made of Pentelikon marble in 132AD, built to celebrate the arrival of the Roman Emperor Hadrian and honor him for his many benefactions to the city. Don't miss your photo opportunity here!

Hadrian, a Roman 2nd century emperor, built this Arch to honor his achievements and ego. Through the arch you can see the acropolis and from the other side the temple of Zeus.

The triumphal arch lies on an ancient street that led from the old city of Athens to the new, Roman section, built by Hadrian. It was constructed by the Athenians, in honor of their benefactor emperor.

Good pit stop on the way to the square. Views can be nice at sunset. The traffic walking signals are fast so don't tarry crossing the road

After the grandeur and majesty of the Acropolis of Athens, this modest structure is a 'bit' underwhelming in person. So take it in before your trek up to the main temples.

It is a bit surreal with the taxis and buses constantly speeding past. Feels like the time space continuum has slipped a little.
